 History

The Department of Sculpture started its undergraduate education in the 1994-1995 academic year. The department, which has exhibited a rapid development process since its establishment, has contributed to the production of art both within and outside the university with various activities of art such as exhibitions, workshops, seminars and public sphere sculptures besides the art education. The Department of Sculpture, which has developed its staff as well as educational opportunities, continues its education life with a contemporary understanding based on theory and practice.

Purpose 

 Considering the traditional art education, the Department of Sculpture, which is based on the profile of contemporary art, aims to train individuals who are productive in plastics and equipped with creative intellectual power by adding a creative dimension to individual skills with the interaction of theoretical and experimental multidimensional, applied image, light, material and place.

Opportunities

The implementation of the curriculum, which includes some practical, historical and contemporary art making practices, requires an environment and opportunities. For this purpose, the department, which provides a progressive art education from simple to complex, in accordance with the understanding of art of the age, carries out its art education in Pattern, Modeling, Wood, Metal, Stone and free application workshops, which offer plastic opportunities for practice, as well as theoretical classrooms. In addition, the students of the department can take elective courses from other departments of the Faculty during the education process depending on their individual interests and skills. In this context, the Curriculum of the Department of Sculpture is in harmony with the curriculum of other art schools that provide art education at the level of universities in our country, as well as in accordance with the requirements of the European University Association and the principles of crediting.
